It’s National Diabetes Awareness Month and JDRF Western PA is out and about in our community! From JDRF Western PA events to school fundraisers and store campaigns, read below to see all of the great things coming up in November and December:

Events

BeJuled3 Shopping Night for JDRF – November 14

World Diabetes Day is on November 14th and we have your plans at the ready! Join our friends from Madeline George and BeJuled3 for a fun shopping night to benefit JDRF on 11/14! Cocktails and light bites will be served.

Emerging Leaders Committee TV Trivia Night – November 26
Olive or Twist | 7:00PM to 8:30PM | Pittsburgh, PA

Put your best TV trivia team together and join JDRF Western PA Chapter’s Emerging Leaders Committee at Olive or Twist for a night of food, drinks, and TV trivia as we raise money for T1D research! For more information, please contact Lauren Solomon at lsolomon@jdrf.org or 412-258-1317.

Store Fundraising Campaigns

Throughout NDAM, several stores will be participating in a JDRF NDAM Store Fundraising Campaign! These stores have not only chosen to collect funds for JDRF in our area during November, but they’ve also chosen to spread awareness about what T1D is and how it impacts our community in Western PA! Make sure to stop in to the following stores and support them during NDAM and if you have a store that would like to participate, let us know by emailing cnolan@jdrf.org or calling 412-258-1319.

Wild Rose Bread Company, owned by a fellow T1D Mom Brooke Hanes, will be donating 20% of all sales to JDRFduring the month of November!

BRAVO! Cucina Italiana
4976 McKnight Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237
Bravo will be donating 10% of all sales to JDRF on all Mondays in November (4th, 11th, 18th, 25th) in honor of head chef Doug Albert’s daughter, Fiona, who was diagnosed with T1D earlier this year.

School Fundraisers

All across Western PA, JDRF will be visiting schools to educate students about type 1 diabetes and hold school fundraisers to raise money for NDAM! Special thank you to Brownsville Elementary, Aiken Elementary, Baden Academy, Ross Elementary, Franklin Elementary and West View Elementary for supporting JDRF with their very own school fundraisers!

With education about T1D and a fundraiser with cool prizes for the students, school fundraisers are a perfect way to celebrate NDAM and spreading T1D awareness year-round. If you know a school that would like to hold a JDRF school program, let us know by emailing westernpa@jdrf.org!
