November is National Diabetes Awareness Month (NDAM)! JDRF is focused throughout November on raising awareness of type 1 diabetes and the urgent need to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications.

JDRF is launching the nationwide T1D Looks Like Me campaign to spread awareness that T1D continues to grow in the US and does not discriminate. By 2050, 5 million people are expected to be living with T1D, and this includes a three-fold growth in youth with T1D to nearly 600,000.

Hereā€™s how YOU can help us raise awareness during NDAM:

  • November 1st is T1Day. JDRF is calling for you to participate in this campaign by joining a Thunderclap on T1Day, November 1, which dedicates your Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr status or post to spread awareness of T1Day on social media. CLICK HERE to join the Thunderclap.
  • Change your profile picture! Use the social profile photo generator at jdrf.org/T1DLooksLikeMe on or after Nov. 1 to create a T1D Looks Like Me photo of your own and share it with your friends.
  • Follow JDRF Western Wisconsin Chapter on Facebook and Twitter to see updates and to watch inspiring NDAM videos that you can share with your family and friends!
  • Start a personal fundraising campaign or schedule a community event on Team JDRF. The first 100 people who sign up in November will be offered a free T1D Looks Like Me t-shirt.
  • Take a selfie with USA Todayā€™s NDAM edition. JDRF will be prominently featured in USA Todayā€™s special supplement November 13-15. Post your selfie with #T1DLooksLikeMe and you could win a T1D Looks Like Me t-shirt.
  • Use the hashtags #T1DLooksLikeMe, #T1Day (Nov. 1), and #WDD (World Diabetes Day, Nov. 14) and visit jdrf.org/T1DLooksLikeMe.
