Meet Team Twins T1D Fight!

This October will be our third JDRF One Walk. Each walk has looked very different for us thus far and has had different celebrations and meanings to it. Our first son Zakary was diagnosed May 21, 2021 in DKA and we held our first walk at our home on October 23, 2021 with a celebration of gathering with friends, family & neighbors. We grilled hot dogs, ate chips and had a visit from an ice cream truck.

Our second walk on October 22, 2022 we had planned to gather again at our home but a last minute decision brought us to gather in Milwaukee with many other families plus a few of our closest family members traveled to walk with us. It meant a lot to us to be able to meet other families that we had met virtually online over that last year, and walk with them that day! My favorite memory thus far has to of been our experience in Milwaukee last year because it is simply like none other and so again this year we will be walking in Milwaukee with so many other JDRF families. However we are looking forward to this year because it’s extra special for our family, on November 12, 2022 our second T1D warrior was diagnosed. Chase, who is Zakary’s identical twin brother, will also be walking for a cure. He’s been an awesome support for his brother and now this year he’s walking for himself too!

We use several fundraising efforts to reach our fundraising goals including team tshirts, pura vida bracelets, simple cash donations from friends & family, garage sales, lemonade stands and taking advantage of the double donation days when offered by other JDRF donation matches!
