Upcoming Events:

We will be registering for all events on this site in order to help us keep track of attendance and to help you plan your schedules. New events and opportunities will continue to be added throughout the year, so check back often to register.

As a reminder, the program requirements are as follows:

  • Volunteer a minimum of 5 hours to support JDRF programs and/or events
  • Attend and/or participate in a minimum of 3 JDRF events
    • One must be a speaking engagement.
    • One must be a fundraising event.
  • Complete 1 fundraiser
2024 Youth Ambassador Virtual Orientation

Orientation will be virtual and held on Monday, February 17, 2024 at 6:30pm. This meeting should be attended by all Youth Ambassadors and a parent/guardian. A Zoom link and password was emailed to all parents/guardians listed on the application in a calendar invitation.

JDRF Wisconsin Gala: One Night, One Mission

The annual JDRF Wisconsin Galas bring together the diabetes community for an unforgettable evening featuring an expansive silent auction, one-of-a-kind live auction, seated dinner, live entertainment, and a night of fundraising all in support of JDRF. Three galas will be held across the state on February 17, 2024 in Madison, Milwaukee, and Appleton.Ā  The Galas will provide guests with a memorable experience to engage in JDRFā€™s mission by sharing the incredible stories of our T1D families.Ā  To purchase tickets, visit One Night, One Mission.

HyVee Campaign – March 1-30, 2024

From March 1 ā€“ March 30, customers will have the opportunity to donate to JDRF at checkout at HyVee locations across the state as part of the round-up campaign.

Youth Ambassadors can play an integral role in showing JDRF’s appreciation for HyVee’s ongoing support by visiting one or more Wisconsin HyVee locations during March to deliver a homemade thank you note. During this visit, Youth Ambassadors are asked to introduce themselves to the store manager and share why HyVee’s support is important to the Youth Ambassador and others impacted by T1D; why it makes a difference. Deliver the thank you note you’ve made, and get a photo with the manager or another store employee. Send the photo to Anne Kahl at akahl@jdrf.org to be posted on the Wisconsin JDRF Facebook page.

Northeast Wisconsin One Walk Kickoff – Appleton, April 7, 2024
This event is for more newly diagnosed families to learn about the different resources available through JDRF, as well as learn about the Walk Program and meet other families impacted by T1D. This event will take place at Badger Sports Park (3600 E. Evergreen Drive, Appleton) from 2:00-3:30pm.

Interested Youth Ambassadors will be asked to talk about your One Walk experience with the group – why you participate, what you love about it, etc.Ā  Older Youth Ambassadors will also be asked to help watch kids in inflatables and laser tag.Ā  REGISTER HERE.

Type One Nation Education Event – Brookfield, April 17, 2024, 5pm

Youth Ambassadors are needed to help with the kids activities during this program so that parents can pay full attention to the program.Ā  The event will be held at the Brookfield Conference Center (325 S. Moorland Road, Brookfield, WIĀ  53005). Arrival time is 5:00pm.Ā  REGISTER HERE.

Greenville Lions Club Presentation – May 2, 2024, 7:30PM
A Youth Ambassador is invited to join JDRF Wisconsin staff to speak at the Greenville Lions Club meeting at the Stoneyard on May 2 at 7:30pm in Greenville (right outside of Appleton). The Youth Ambassador should prepare to share their T1D story and talk about daily life with T1D.

Ashleigh Sand, JDRF Wisconsin Development Manager, will attend with the Youth Ambassador and talk to the group about the One Walk Program and hopefully inspire the Greenville Lions to have a team.Ā  Interested Youth Ambassadors should REGISTER HERE by March 30.

Northeast Wisconsin One Walk – Neenah, May 18, 2024

This One Walk will take place at Riverside Park in Neenah (500 E. Wisconsin Avenue). I would like to know if you are attending as part of a Walk team or if you are planning to attend as a volunteer. Arrival times will be different depending on if you are walking or volunteering. We would like to have 2-3 Youth Ambassadors stand in the JDRF area and talk about the Youth Ambassador program and help recruit new members.

T1D Family Day – Madison Marriot West, June 28, 2024, 8:30am-1:30pm

The whole family is invited to spend the day learning, laughing, and making new friends while finding out more about diabetes management. Parents or caregivers must attend with their children. The day is open to children 5 to 17 years old and is free to attend, but registration is required.

We will be joined by featured speaker, Michael Hunter. Michael is the first (and remains the only) airshow performer in the world with diabetes. He is the founder of the Flight for Diabetes organization benefiting children with diabetes. Register to attend today!

JDRF Night at the Mallards – The Duck Pond, Madison, June 28, 2024
Join the JDRF community out for a night at the Mallards game. Gates open at 5:35pm with the first pitch at 6:35pm.Ā Buy your tickets TODAY to take advantage of this great opportunity to watch a game with the T1D community.
JDRF Night at the Woodchucks – Wausau, August 3, 2024 at 6pm

Join JDRF Wisconsin on Saturday, August 3, 2024 for JDRF Night at the Woodchucks Game presented by Crystal Finishing Systems! Come meet other families with T1D.Ā  Come for the fun, stay for the game and fireworks!Ā  RSVP by July 26, 2024.

JDRF Night at the Timber Rattlers – Appleton, August 17, 2024

Help support the Wisconsin Chapter of JDRF with a fun night out at the ballpark on August 17th, as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers take on the Peoria Chiefs at 6:40PM right here at Neuroscience Group Field. A portion of the proceeds for every ticket sold will be donated back to JDRF. What better way to help support your local community and causes you care about than enjoying a day at the ballgame! Come for the community, stay for the game and fireworks! BUY TICKETS

JDRF Afternoon with the Milkmen – Milwaukee, August 25, 2024, 1pm

Help support the Wisconsin Chapter of JDRF with a fun afternoon out at the ballpark on August 25th, as the Milwaukee Milkmen take on the Railcats at 1:00pm at Franklin Field. A portion of the proceeds for every ticket sold will be donated back to JDRF. What better way to help support your local community and causes you care about than enjoying a day at the ballgame! BUY TICKETS

Youth Ambassadors are needed to help welcome guests to the ballpark, sell 50/50 raffle tickets and sell ball toss balls. Please purchase a ticket to attend and then also complete this registration form to let me know you can also be an event volunteer for a portion of the game.

Marshalls Campaign – September 3-30, 2024

From September 3 ā€“ September 30, customers will have the opportunity to donate to JDRF at checkout at any of the over 1,000 Marshalls locations across the United States and Puerto Rico. Marshallsā€™ associates will ask their customers to make a donation to JDRF and will add their designated amount onto their bill at check out. Every store will also have a JDRF display at the front of the store.

Youth Ambassadors can play an integral role in showing JDRF’s appreciation for their ongoing support by visiting one or more Wisconsin Marshalls locations during September to deliver a homemade thank you note. During this visit, Youth Ambassadors are asked to introduce themselves to the store manager and share why their support is important to the Youth Ambassador and others impacted by T1D. Deliver the thank you note you’ve made, and get a photo with the manager or another store employee. Send the photo to Anne Kahl at akahl@jdrf.org to be posted on the Wisconsin JDRF Facebook page.

It’s not required, but in addition to the thank you note Youth Ambassadors could also bring homemade or store-bought baked goods for the staff.Ā  It’s a nice touch of appreciation, but it’s not required.

Secondary Caregivers Education Event – Summer 2024 – Children’s Hospital in Wauwatosa, WI

Youth Ambassadors age 14 and older are invited to support CHW Family Life staff in the kids activity area for this event. Youth Ambassadors will serve as role models for younger event attendees with T1D and help entertain them while parents are participating in the educational program. Exact date TBD.

  • Connexus Credit Union would like a couple Youth Ambassadors to provide virtual awareness presentations to their employees across 26 states. More info to come.
One Night, One Mission – JDRF Wisconsin Gala 2025 – March 1, 2025
