Thank you to all of our Greatest Supporters!

in ,

Over the past two months, we’ve asked you to share stories of your greatest supporters – moms and dads, friends and significant others, coaches and grandparents – everyone who helps you on your journey with type 1 diabetes (T1D) or caring for someone who has T1D.

We heard from Casey on Twitter, whose five-year-old daughter with T1D said, “my family is #MyGreatestSupporter!”

On Facebook, we heard the amazing story of Jack Hughes, one of our favorite JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes participants who, in his 80s after having had T1D for more than 45 years, participated in his first Ride. He thanks his immediate family, his late wife and his JDRF family for being his greatest supporters!

And, like with so many other fantastic stories of parents that were shared, we heard from Brandie on Instagram, whose dad donned a saline-filled insulin pump so that he could better understand what it was like for his daughter to live with T1D.

Of course, we know that it is not just around Mother’s Day and Father’s Day when we get help from our greatest supporters, but year-round, 24/7. We invite you to recognize the people who help you on your T1D journey at any time throughout the year by sharing your stories online with the hashtag #MyGreatestSupporter.

If you want a special way to say thank you, ALEX AND ANI and Modify Watches make great gifts, with a portion of the proceeds going to JDRF.

Modify Watches’ JDRF collection includes watch faces with messages like “T1D Looks Like Me” and “Turning Type One into Type None.” Available online only, 30 percent of proceeds from each watch purchased are donated to JDRF.

ALEX AND ANI Side by Side Charm Bangles, available in gold or silver finish, are sets of two bangles, each with a single otter charm. Otters are symbols of friendship and unity, and are known to hold hands to secure themselves from drifting apart. Available online and in stores, 20 percent of the purchase price of each bangle set benefits JDRF.

Thank you for sharing our vision to create a world without T1D, for being our greatest supporters and for sharing stories of the amazing people in your lives helping you every step of the way.
