With TypeOneNation 2016 just over a week away, we’re excited to share all of the great activities we have planned for the Kids Zone! This year we have a yoga instructor that specializes in children’s yoga, a choreographer that will lead a dance session, a magician, a Mad Science presentation, a session with a diabetes educator, and much more!

The Kids Zone opens at 8:30am and will have a nurse on site throughout the day. Programming begins at 9:00am with a children’s yoga class taught by Jill Rigby, who has led children’s yoga classes for more than 10 years. Jill is a full-time Occupational Therapist at a school for learning disabled children, a massage therapist, an essential oil consultant, and a kids yoga instructor.

Heather Barrett is next at 10:00am with an education session focused on diabetes, followed by Mad Science at 10:45am where children will learn about the human body and make slime that they will be able to take home (you’re welcome, parents). The Kids Zone closes for lunch at noon, where parents will have the opportunity to talk to their children about what they have learned so far.

After reopening at 12:45pm, the Magical Myster AJ begins his magic act at 1:00pm. Myster AJ’s 40 minute show empowers, engages, and enlightens. And it’s not just a magic show — Myster AJ promises suspense, clean comedy, juggling, clowning, puppetry, music, and just plain silly antics!

The final program of the day begins at 1:45 when Irfan Quarshi begins his dance and choreography session. Irfan has been a hip-hop dance instructor, teaching children, teens, and adults for more than five years and is sure to have your child dancing all the way home.

The Kids Zone will close at 3:00pm to coincide with the wrap-up of the main programming. Other activities that will be available include: storybook reading, JDRF worksheets, face painting, and Project SNAP art projects. These projects will also be available if your child isn’t quite feeling one of the main programs we have planned.
