AT/T1 Challenge

JDRF Georgia is excited to announce the newest way we’re advancing our mission: by hiking! On April 24-26, 2015, participants will come together for the AT/T1 Challenge at Amicalola Falls State Park. Hikers will take on two challenges: raising money to help fund research for better treatments and a cure for T1D, and tackling part of America’s most famous trail, the Appalachian Trail (AT).The AT/T1 Challenge is a great way for both individuals and families to take on a new adventure that is accessible (not too much special gear required!), yet designed to foster both a significant impact on the mission and a significant personal accomplishment.

Here at the JDRF Georgia office, we’re excited about the event because it’s a new way for the type one community to engage with JDRF Georgia and with one another.  JDRF Georgia’s Executive Director, Trey Moore, is excited because the event “… offers participants the chance to support T1D research in a unique, challenging way, surrounded by the natural beauty of the north Georgia mountains.  The AT is an iconic American trail, and it’s in our ‘backyard’.  It represents a journey of passion, determination and personal triumph.  And that sums up our quest to end type 1 diabetes.”

Passion and determination are two qualities that can also be ascribed to many of you: our supporters , volunteers and families. That’s why we hope you’ll be as excited about this event as we are! We invite you to bring your own enthusiasm and dedication and join us as we reach for new heights in April 2015. Registration opens Monday (January 12th)!
