A message to the JDRF community about coronavirus (COVID-19)

in

Dear JDRF Supporter,

Given the heightened levels of concern in the tri-state area over the coronavirus (COVID-19), and to do our part in helping to contain its spread, we have determined that the best way to safeguard our community and our staff is to not hold any in-person events through June 30.

The following JDRF Greater Delaware Valley Chapter events are impacted by this decision:

  • South Jersey TypeOneNation Summit on March 14
  • Rockinā€™ Docs for Diabetes Cure on March 22
  • South Jersey Gala on April 4
  • Philadelphia Gala on April 18
  • Delaware Gala on April 25
  • One Walk Northeast PA on April 26
  • JDRF Night at the Phillies on May 30
  • The Meltzer Foundation Invitational on June 1
  • One Walk Wildwood on June 6
  • South Jersey Ride to Type None on June 13

We hope that, after that time, the impact of this pandemic will have subsided.Ā In the meantime, we will continue to evaluate if additional adjustments need to be made. Please know this decision includes local events here in the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter and all JDRF events nationwide.

We have made this decision out of an abundance of caution and care, in partnership with leadership at both local and national levels. We all understand the challenges of this rapidly evolving situation, and we know that many will have questions about the impact of this decision on our critical fundraising to support the mission. The well-being of our community and staff is paramountā€”and, as a result, we must postpone all in-person gatherings at this time.

Please know that smaller meetings, such as committee meetings, may still proceed but will take place virtually via conference call or WebEx.Ā Your staff partners will be making those arrangements for scheduled meetings in the days ahead.

To ensure the safety of your JDRF staff partners, I have instructed all staff of the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter to work from home, beginning Monday, March 16. Your staff team will continue to be accessible via phone and email. I am monitoring this situation regularly and will continue to evaluate our position daily, but please anticipate that our offices in Wilmington, DE; Cherry Hill, NJ; and King of Prussia, PA will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

JDRF is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and will be making decisions that prioritize the safety of our staff and community. We ask that you stay tuned to your inbox and news feed for communication from the chapter with updates.

Please know that despite these temporary changes to our chapter operations, your JDRF is still working tirelessly in support of our T1D community. Together, we will get through this difficult time and realize our shared vision of a world without T1D.

Do not hesitate to reach out to the chapter at greaterdelawarevalley@jdrf.org with questions. We are here to support you.

Sincerely,

Patrick K. Delaney

Executive Director, JDRF Greater Delaware Valley Chapter
