2015 Rockin’ Docs for Diabetes Cure

in

Rockin’ Docs for Diabetes Cure, the fifth annual benefit concert and fundraising event, will be held on Saturday evening, April 18, 2015, at the World Café Live in Center City Philadelphia. All profits will benefit JDRF. The concert will feature four established local rock bands (Shadow Merchant, Volunteers, Runnin’ Late and Rightback) including multiple doctor-musicians from several large hospital centers in the Philadelphia area (including Abington Memorial Hospital, Aria Health, Christiana Hospital, Cooper University Hospital, Holy Redeemer Hospital, Princeton Health Care, Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, Virtua Health, Wills Eye Hospital and RWJ Hamilton).  We are so excited to have Michaela Majoun, on-air host of the XPN Morning Show, as this year’s emcee.

The past four Rockin’ Docs concerts have been great successes.  Last year’s event grossed over $50,000, with all of the net proceeds benefiting JDRF. Over the past four years, Rockin’ Docs has received extensive pre-event publicity (front page/feature story of the Weekend Section of the Inquirer, CBS TV and ABC TV (band appearances), WMGK, WBEN, Local Living magazine, Main Line magazine, Jewish Exponent, and more).

Rockin’ Docs was conceived and created by Kenneth Einhorn M.D. and Jeremy Jaffe M.D. (himself diagnosed with type 1 diabetes over 20 years ago), both of whom are fathers of children with type 1 diabetes. Their goal is that no family should ever have to deal with the pain and anxiety of learning that a loved one has developed diabetes, and no one should ever have to carry the heavy burden of this disease throughout their lifetime.  JDRF is so appreciative of all of the time, effort, and energy that Dr. Einhorn, Dr. Jaffe, and JDRF Board Member, Nancy Wolfson, put into this event year-round to raise the much needed funds that will help us to eventually turn type one into type none.
