#WeAreStrongerTogether

On March 13th, your JDRF Greater Delaware Valley Chapter offices closed and your staff partners began to work remotely from home in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.  None of us could have imagined then that nearly 4 months later we would still be socially distancing and unclear of when we might return to some degree of normalcy.

Still, type 1 diabetes does not stop because of a pandemic or social distancing…and neither have you, our fabulous volunteers and supporters!

To ensure that life-changing and life-saving JDRF research continued, our Greater Delaware Valley Chapter community…

Reimagined our Northeast Pennsylvania and Wildwood One Walks to create a virtual walk experience on June 6th that engaged 85 teams and 422 walkers to raise over $90,000!

Demonstrated the Power of US by bringing our Delaware, South Jersey and Philadelphia galas together for a virtual gala experience June 11th – 14th that raised over $1.9 million!

Since March 13th, JDRF Greater Delaware Valley Chapter has continued to serve the T1D community in many ways!  We have provided 66 Bags of Hope to newly diagnosed children and have 10 refreshed T1D Adult Care Kits about to be shipped to newly diagnosed adults.  In addition, we have paired 21 families with Outreach Volunteers and have continued to make Toolkits available to everyone for downloading on our website.

“My T1D son loves Rufus the bear and the bag and my daughter, who is younger, really enjoyed the activity books (it was very helpful for her as the sibling). Also, there was a website that was included on a bookmark in the Bag of Hope and I was able to download some free story books as well.” – Lisa Lampron

Recently, the chapter hosted our first Newly Diagnosed Parents Virtual Meet up… connecting families virtually from PA, NJ and DE and hosted by Dr. Shara Bialo and Outreach Volunteer Ross Laufgraben.  We are excited for our future Parent Meet Up’s as well as our first T1D “Virtual” Kid’s Meet up!  Please visit our website and check social media for updates!  #WeAreStrongerTogether

“Participating in the newly diagnosed parents virtual meet up helped me realize I’m not as alone as I thought as a mom of a newly diagnosed T1D child. It was heartwarming to hear “it will get better” and just to hear from everyone and their experiences.” – Sarai Almanzar

To every volunteer, donor, staff partner, and community partner who has worked so hard to ensure that our mission and community continue to be served during these challenging times….THANK YOU!
