Nurse Vicky is Russell’s Greatest Supporter

National Nurses Day is May 6! Have you told your nurse lately how much you appreciate their support?

Youth Ambassador Russell colored the JDRF Nurses Day Coloring Page and took it to his school nurse, Vicky. Russell told her:

You are my greatest supporter because you always make me feel better when I am high or low. I know you care. Love, Russell.

Russell’s mom, Denise, shared:

Vicky has been absolutely amazing since Russell’s diagnosis last June and is a constant advocate for him at school. When Russell and his brother Ripley started getting teased by another student during recess because of his type 1 diabetes, she went into the child’s classroom and gave a lesson on T1D. She has gone into Russell’s classroom several times as well to educate his classmates about his T1D and explain what his Dexcom and Omnipod are, and what the alarms that they often hear mean. His classmates totally have his back now, which is a wonderful thing. We truly can’t say enough about what a blessing she has been to us. We have full peace of mind when he is in her care.

Print the Nurses Day Coloring Page for the nurse you love! Then, share your work with your nurse and on social media using #MyGreatestSupporter. We would love to hear the stories of the nurses in your life who have been a great support for you on your journey!
