In an effort to stay connected as a community, JDRF Mid-Atlantic is excited to offer virtual and in-person meet ups and educational events to support our local T1D community. We offer T1D support and networking programs for newly diagnosed families and individuals, parents of children with T1D, and adults with T1D, as well educational sessions on research, advocacy, virtual fundraising, and more. T1D in the Workplace: Knowing Your Rights: Tuesday, September 19 at 7:00 PM ET
This virtual program is part of JDRF’s No Limits Speaker Series. Daniel Phelan, Associate at Duval & Stachenfeld LLP and Founder and Chairman of Type 1 Action Foundation will speak about navigating T1D in the workplace.

T1D Connections Meet Up for Newly Diagnosed: 3rd Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM
Join your T1D community for a virtual meet & greet to connect with JDRF Mid-Atlantic volunteer leaders and other newly diagnosed families. Get advice, tips, and support from others and learn more about JDRF events, program, and research. Contact Carrie Zager, czager@jdrf.org or 703-489-2183 for additional information. Children are welcome to attend however the conversation is geared towards parents/caregivers.
Bridging the Gap – T1D Teen Connections Group: 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM
JDRF Mid-Atlantic is excited to host the “Bridging the Gap” meet-up for teens ages 13-18 with T1D. Led by young adults living with T1D, this informal meet-up is an opportunity for teens to meet and talk openly about the challenges and triumphs of living with T1D. Type 1 Diabetes Peer Support GroupĀ
Are you living with T1D or parenting a child with T1D? Join us for an informal conversation to share information and connect with others in the T1D community. Bring questions or topics you would like to discuss. Before the Covid-19 pandemic this group met monthly at Suburban Hospital. We are now meeting virtually via Zoom. Greater Blue Ridge Area T1D Support Group (IN-PERSON)
This support group meets every other month at Raleigh Court United Methodist Church in Roanoke, VA and is open to anyone living with or affected by T1D. Youth activities and childcare are available. Each meeting will feature a special guest speaker or topic. Sign up to be added to the support group mailing list. Upcoming meeting dates:

Washington County (MD) T1D Support Group (IN-PERSON): Third Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM
This new support group led by Meritus Medical Center diabetes educators will meet monthly at E. Russel Hicks Middle School (1321 S Potomac St, Hagerstown) and is open to all students age 5-18 and their parents/caregivers. Contact Crystal Allison for additional information. 2023 Dates: January 19, February 16, March 16, April 20, May 18, June 15, July 20, August 17, September 21, October 19, November 16, and December 21.

Ask the Therapist Virtual Series: 1st Wednesday of the month at 11:00 AM ET / 8:00 AM PT
Joanne Robb, a marriage and family therapist and mother of three – two of whom live with T1D – wants to help families gain the skills and knowledge they need to address the mental health impact and toll T1D takes on the entire family. Bring your questions and meet others in the T1D community for this informal call.
