T1D Virtual Connections & Education

In an effort to stay connected as a community, JDRF Mid-Atlantic is excited to offer virtual meet ups and educational events to support our local T1D community. We will offer T1D support and networking programs for newly diagnosed families and individuals, parents of children with T1D, and adults with T1D, as well educational sessions on research, advocacy, virtual fundraising, and more. Please bookmark this page and check back frequently as new events will be added weekly.

Upcoming Events:

T1D Families Virtual Meet Ups
Newly diagnosed or looking for support from other parents? Join your T1D community for a virtual meet up to connect with other T1D families and get advice and tips from experienced T1D parents. This casual meeting, led by JDRF outreach volunteers, will not offer medical advice but will offer laughter, ideas, and connection! Our fall meeting dates are coming soon! Please contact Carrie Zager, czager@jdrf.org for additional information.

Type 1 Diabetes Peer Support Group: Wednesday, October 28 at 7:30 PM
Are you living with T1D or parenting a child with T1D? Join us for an informal conversation to share information and connect with others in the T1D community. Bring questions or topics you would like to discuss. Before the Covid-19 pandemic this group met monthly at Suburban Hospital. We are now meeting virtually via Zoom. Register here or contact Barbara Kahl at kahldolan@gmail.com or 301-530-3656 for more information.

JDRF One Walk: Saturday, November 1
JDRF One Walk is a community celebration for those living with T1D and the research advancements we’ve all worked together to achieve. We may not be together in person this year, but we will still come together as one community to walk the distance for the 1.6 million Americans living with T1D. You set the pace, the place, the number of miles and the dollars you raise with friends, family and colleagues. Register here or contact Jenny Holmgrain, jholmgrain@jdrf.org or 703-887-4227 for more information.

Bridging the Gap – T1D Teen Connections Group
JDRF Mid-Atlantic is excited to host another “Bridging the Gap” meet-up for teens ages 13-18 with T1D. Led by young adults living with T1D, this informal meet-up is an opportunity for teens to meet and talk openly about the challenges and triumphs of living with T1D. Register below or contact Carrie Zager, czager@jdrf.org or 703-489-2183 for more information.
