LIGHTS! CAMERA! TAKE ACTION!  The 8th annual gala on March 1st raised a chapter record-breaking $455,000 to help fund a cure for type 1 diabetes.  Thanks to all who supported the event!

4/1/08 - We are sad to announce that Claudette Yamin, mother of singer Elliott Yamin, has passed away. The Central Virginia Chapter of JDRF is eternally grateful to the Yamin family for their tireless efforts to raise awareness and funds for juvenile diabetes.  Claudette has been an amazing advocate in this regard.  The energy and light she brought to so many events, including our recent Gala, were an inspiration to us all.  Faithful to Elliott and to finding a cure, Claudette and the Yamin family left a message on Elliott's website [http://www.etrainstation.com/] asked that in lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Central Virginia chapter.  In this way and many others, her legacy will live on.  We extend our deepest sympathies to the family.  If you would like to make a donation to JDRF in Claudette's honor, please contact the JDRF office at 804-254-8014.

With your help, we are moving research from the laboratory bench to the patient's bedside, translating scientific advances into longer, healthier lives for those with diabetes. With your help, we are moving closer to our goal ... a cure for diabetes and its complications.
